The second trade that the King's Kids Children studied in their University of Biblical Occupations was textile manufacturing - together with a practical lesson in sewing.
During last week’s King’s Kids Children’s meeting we had the second unit of the King’s Kids University of Biblical Occupations. This means that again a number of banners changed the House of Light into a university building, the attendance board was waiting on the students to come in – and our puzzle-piece issuing machine was running on full speed.
This time the topic of the university lecture was textile manufacturing. So after the children’s time of joint worship and small group bible studies, they came back together to watch a short clip about the various stages involved in making clothes: Sheering sheep, spinning the wool, weaving the fabric and sewing the final product. After that they had a practical lesson in sewing and again split up into smaller groups to try out sewing themselves. From a number of precut felt shapes they could choose to sew key hangers or barrettes, filled with cotton and decorated with buttons and other pieces of fabric. Of course they could take home their self-made textiles – and with them the key verse “Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!” from Romans 11:33.

During our summer Prayer Camp in Jordan we felt as if the Lord allowed us to see a glimpse of what He has promised for our region for the later days in Isaiah 19, 22-25. It says there that there will be a highway between Assyria & Egypt and these nations will worship Him together on that highway and Israel will be the third, along with Assyria and Egypt, a blessing on the earth!
